Master One Skill Befor You Move On To The Next One.
I have the care of my egg hens down really well! I get steady, good eggs from my hens with no problems. Now, I am ready to add dairy goats. I think it is important to master one skill before you move on to the next. especially if your looking for success. Nothing is worse than having two or three things going wrong at the same time. Every problem needs your attention, and being pulled in more than one direction is stressful. For me it's easy to get myself into that situation because I get so excited about my farm, but I have learned having success is so gratifying and much better than being impulsive. So for me it's one thing at a time when it comes to expanding my farm. Every new addition needs housing of course, but also tools for processing and so forth. I need to plan all that out to be able to financially afford my new project. Life on the farm is so good it's better than my dreams. Happy Homesteading Becky

What I Have Been Doing!!!
I have been busy this spring on my cabin, finally passed my electrical inspection, Yes, yes, yes!! I feel like I need a mental and emotional vacation after that. Electrical has been the hardest part of building this cabin so far. Onward and upward now. Next is some sheet rock and more tile work. I like both of those. Of course money is always an issue to plan and finagal to get the things done that I want to get done. It all works out, SLOWLY.
I just pulled all my onions YUM, and planted zucchini in it's place. I also decided that I need to start my plants from seeds this year. I was buying them as little plants from garden stores, but that gets pricey after a while. With every passing year I realize gardening is a learned skill that is getting lost in the consumer lifestyle. It takes a lot of know how to be good.
I also got a new house. I got a stunning black and white leopard appaloosa gelding. I love appaloosa's they are smart and sensitive and gentle. I will show him in my next podcast. That's all for now stay tuned. Happy Homesteading Becky

I LOVE The Sunny Weather
I just love the sunny weather!
I get so motivated to get the garden going. I never loose the desire to grow a garden, even though I am not that good yet. I am finding that gardening is definitely a skill. A skill worth developing.
A friend of mine has goats and we will be making goat milk soap soon. She has never made soap, I have but only lye soap. One reason I like homemade soap is that it doesn't melt away fast. One bar last. You don't realize how fast store bought soap melts until you try homemade. Theirs a big difference.
I plan on getting a dairy goat in the fall. I can't wait. I get everything ready first. Then bring the animal home last. Less problems. I try to avoid problems and increase joy! I want to make cheese, soap and I like to drink milk.
I will be ordering some meat birds (chickens) pretty soon. We will see how that whole process goes. I know some people don't like that idea but I buy chicken from the store anyway and I know the big commercial meat producer don't care about the comfort of the chicken. I know the end is the same for the chicken but I would rather live a happy life and die, then a crappy life and die. That's how I feel.
I got the best deal on a horse trailer through being neighborly and just chit chatting with people. I am always suprised at the deals I get. It's a two horse slant load aluminum skin with a dressing room. five hundred bucks. I sold my old horse trailer a few years ago to help build my cabin. You know how you have to do what it takes when your on a mission.
